Following is a summary of the key changes in the 2011 SDKA By-Laws & Policies that you should understand before the 2011 Championship Season gets underway on February 13th.
1. Tires: The SDKA Spec Tires are: Maxxis HG3, Bridgestone YHC and/or YKC, Burris B55A or B44A, or equivalents. Maxxis MH tires have been removed; however, they may be used for the first 3 races in 2011 for anyone that may have them. Shifters may use MG-SK, -FZ or –MZ, or any of the SDKA Spec Tires; drivers option. See 100.1 of the Bylaws & Policies for details.
2. KPV/HPV: Either engine package may be used in the KPV/HPV classes; drivers option. See 100.2 for details.
3. TaG Classes: Weights have changed. We will follow SKUSA and the recently changed IKF weights for each engine package. See 100.2 of the Bylaws & Policies for details. Click Here for the 2011 Class Specs.
4. Open 125cc Shifter Class: Fuel for this class will be the ProKart Challenge Spec Fuel or VP C12; drivers option.
5. Full Width Rear Bumpers: Optional at SDKA events. However, if equipped with a full width rear bumper, the bumper shall be either CIK style plastic “rear wheel protection” or steel tube of a double bar design. See 100.2 (look on the last page) for details.
6. Helmets: 2010 was the last competitive year that Snell SA and M 2000 helmets were legal. They will not be allowed at SDKA events beginning January 1, 2011; it’s an insurance thing. There is no grace period for Snell SA and M 2000 helmets.
7. On-Track Conduct: Guideline 2 has been added to Section VI of the Bylaws & Policies. Read it and understand it thoroughly. The Race Director will use it to correct driver conduct on-track.
