Is it possible to pay for race days (prefer to join club however) and run my 250cc (CR Honda) sprint chassis (Will Kart) in the shifter classes? I do not want to race for points etc. If it is possible, do I need a transponder if I don't care about points? I of course would go thru tech. inspection etc. for safety purposes as required.
I am 59 years old and want to just have fun on a local track and not have to drive to Riverside or Grange to run my kart every month. It seems with some advice from the vets I certainly would try not to get in the way of the front runners, yet just have some fun trying to keep up with the back markers.
Is it possible if there are others out there that we could form a class for 250cc sprint karts? Cal Speed (Fontana) allows the 250 with no problem.
The 250cc sprint kart is so much more fun and easier to maintain since the power comes from torque without expensive or deleterious life expectancy modifications to the engine. Plus it obviously helps "big guys" stay up with the faster kids in the 125s due to weight to power ratios.
Hopefully I can join the SDKA as a full time member and contribute to the local racing if I can run my 250 kart.
Thank you for any reply.

We don't currently have a 250cc shifter class; however, if enough come...we'll create a championship class. Read the By-Laws to understand how. If your kart can pass Safety Tech, you will be allowed to run. Read the By-Laws to understand what is required for Safety Tech. Look for the Pre-Tech Form. SDKA runs all the shifters as one group; scored separately; blended grid by qualifying time for Heat One, finish order for Heat Two and the Main. Shifters use standing starts to begin each race.
