I noticed that the steering shaft has a bend in it where it passes by the fuel tank. Is it supposed to be perfectly straight? This is on a CGR, I noticed my Arrow has a small bend in it also.

I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be straight. If it's just a small bend, and it's travel doesn't rub on anything, it would probably be alright. You certainly do not want it to break though. You should have someone look at it if your not sure.

They should really be straight. A kink will give your steering a strange progressive rate, and it is prone to breakage.
I have a brand new shaft that I believe is right for a CRG; I'd have to check on it. They are $80+shipping new at discount Internet sites; you can have mine for $50 if it's the right one.
Another option is to pull it and try pressing or hammering it straight. It will be ugly but it would work.

I thought that it should be straight, I am going to try to take the bend out in the press, if I start making a s out of it I will contact you about the shaft you have. Thanks for the help.

??,$$. If you are conviced the bend needs to be straightened but have the attitude that it is already at a possible breaking point there is really no point in trying to rebend a bent piece of metal. "It will make it weaker". Once again, if it is a slight bend and you set your front end with everything lined up it shouldn't be a problem, or you could straighten it and it may be fine, or you could install a new one. Either way don't forget to re-align your front end. It's your call.

I hear you on replacing it Mike, I suppose thats why I asked if should be straight. The alignment is still where it was last set, so that is ok. Its hard to measure ackerman so i am not sure if it is effecting it. I think a new shaft would be best.
