Is it acceptable (safe) to play around with the hub mounting depth on the rear axle in order to tune the rear track width? Or, do the hubs need to be mounted in full-lock all the way onto the axle?
I have short, medium, and long hubs, and I am shooting for a rear track width that is too narrow for my long hubs, but my medium hubs fall short of the target. So, can I cheat my medium hubs out by 1/4" each side, or is that hard on the axle/hub/etc.? Just wondering if it is an established tuning technique.
Thanks, David

Thanks boss. Re-learning (and unlearning) chassis tuning is going to be challenging but fun. In the automotive world we are desperate to load up the inside rear; in karting you're supposed to unload it! The world has gone mad!

DAVID, MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALSO LOOKING AT THE WEAR OF THE TIRE, THE SHORTER THE HUB AND SOFTER THE HUB THE SOFTER IT MAKES YOUR REAR END, THE LONGER THE HUB THE STIFFER IT MAKES YOU. MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN WHAT IT GOING ON WITH EACH CHANGE BECAUSE IT MAY BE THE FRONT THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. AND YEAS YOU CAN MOVE THE HUBS OUT OFF THE AXLE, ON THE SHORT HUBS THOUGH YOU AT LEAST WANT 50% OF THE HUB ON THE AXLE. AND IF YOU ARE GOING OF THE HUB MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A HUB LOCK ON IT SO IT WONT MOVE ON YOU
