I purchased a new spec pipe, an RLV-8787, as specified in the SDKA rules. It looks like this: Kenny's kart was previously raced in Formula Y, and it came with a pipe. The end of his pipe is identical to mine, but the neck is different than mine, as shown below: Are both pipes legal for Formula Y/C Heavy?

Kenny's pipe is not leagel for the class. However he could race with that pipe, just not for points and I'm pretty sure he would have to start in the back.

Thanks Mike. Kinda what I figured.
We found a place back East that is blowing out 8787 pipes with headers for under $100, so it's not that big of a setback. I don't think any local shops would want to match that pricing!

Well, i guess it isn't all that cheap after all?!
But I guess I'll just get the proper pipe, then...

Thank you Carlos. That kind of generosity is what I love about this group, and I look forward to finally getting out on track with everyone next week.
Fortunately, we were able to find a combination of new and used 8787 pipes for all our karts, so we are all set and don't need any more.
Having said that, I just this week got another person seriously interested in buying a kart and coming racing with us. If his kart does not come with a pipe, I'll be on the hunt once again.
Thank you, David
