Is there a "karting" specific version of this fuel ala the "karting" version of VP110 that we ran last year, or is all MS98 the same.
TIA

Hopefully this answer won't be confusing.
The short answer is that all MS98 is the same.
The long answer is two-fold (the following details are directly from VP on 12-19-2008): 1. The fuel is technically MS98L (with an "L") but everybody generically refers to it as MS98 (IKF, ProKart, Tri-C all list the spec fuel as MS98). It is labeled as MS98L on the can. I mention this to help avoid confusion when buying the fuel.
2. VP will be releasing an MS98 labeled as "Karting"; however, the fuel is identical to MS98 not labeled as "Karting". All MS98 is the identical formulation.
The reason VP is doing a "Karting" version of MS98 is to create a separate SKU number. This is so they can maintain an adequate inventory to supply the huge increase in the demand for karting. IKF changed to MS98 as their spec fuel at a National level and the majority of clubs that run IKF rules have followed suit. Kart shops that begin selling MS98 will receive the "Karting" labeled cans.
Additional information for those interested
There are two main reasons IKF made the change to MS98: 1. One of their objectives was to begin the use of an unleaded spec fuel by 2009 for all 2-cycle classes. They weren't able to meet that target but spec'ing MS98 will result in a 60% lead reduction compared to the prior spec fuels.
2. MS98 will not have integrity issues like those that surfaced with VP110. All MS98 is packaged (canned) at the VP plant prior to distribution so they can maintain the integrity of the fuel until the cans are sealed. VP110 was purchased by distributors in bulk (tanker trucks) then package by the distributors.
Let me know if there are any more questions regarding the MS98 spec fuel.

No - I would be absolutely shocked if there was any difference at all.

According to two motor builders I talked to they both say this is a great move for IKF and clubs who follow suit. Both said engine power will not be affected ... if anything just "slightly" more power but nothing really noticeable.
