I've been doing road course track events in full size cars for about the last year or so (and am going to make the jump to club racing soon). I've taken my son to a number of events with me and he absolutely loves going to the 'races'. He is only four years old and is already asking when he can start 'racing'.
I've checked out the rules and have seen that SDKA has a class for five year olds. I would very much like to get my son into karting when he turns five (assuming I can get his mother to buy off on it) and am looking for as much information I can gather, both to get his mother's approval and to get him started off on the right foot in terms of learning technique and in being as safe as possible.
I would appreciate any info anyone can offer.
Thanks.

If you can, stop in at our next race at Qualcomm on July 20th and meet some of our younger drivers. There's also a couple of guys that can help you decide what you need to get your son started. My kart number is #27...look forward to meeting you!

If he shows as much interest/excitement in Karts as he does in full size cars, we'll take the next step. Thanks.
