Could someone please explain the 2008 tire rules for next year. The Inside Line that just came out was a bit confusing. At least for the Rotax class. I didn't understand if we are required to use D2's, Maxxis, Burris or ? Also where can we get Maxxis or Burris tires if those are the ticket? Can we get any of the them through Go-Karting, Lap Tech or Jeff Shadoan's new JLS Karting? I would like to keep my purchases inside the SDKA family.

Hmmm... Spec Tire for all club classes is: Bridgestone YHC, or Burris B55A or B44A, or Maxxis MH or HG3; Driver's Option.
Shifters: use the ProKart Challenge spec tires.
Rotax: SDKA Spec Tire or MoJo D2; Driver's Option.
Rotax DD2: MoJo D2.
TaG-USA Senior and Heavy use the SDKA Spec Tire.
Hope that clears the fog.

The Maxxis and Burris spec tires have great benefits for racers and SDKA. Racer Benefits: - Maxxis and Burris tires are less expensive than Bridgestone YHCs.
- Maxxis and Burris tires have more consistent performance over the life of the tire.
- Maxxis HG3 and Burris B55A are slightly harder compounds. These are great options for those looking to extend tire life even further (without much of a drop in performance).
SDKA + Racer Benefits: Maxxis and Burris both provide the club and racers with excellent contingency programs including the following: - Free tires to be awarded at the Annual Awards Banquet.
- Cash and credits toward additional prizes for the Banquet.
Please ask if there are additional questions about the Spec tire rules or the tires. Jeff Shadoan

The Maxxis MH and Burris B44A tires are the same durometer (hardness) as Bridgestone YHC tires.
Durometer Specs: Bridgestone YHC = 56 Maxxis MH = 56 (same as YHC) Burris B44A = 56 (same as YHC) Maxxis HG3 = 58 (slightly harder ... less wear) Burris B55A = 58 (slightly harder ... less wear)
The Maxxis and Burris tires may have different circumference than your previous tires so your gearing may need to be changed to compensate.
Example: when I tested the Maxxis MH tires at the last race of the year I went up 2-teeth on my rear sprocket (compared to MG Yellow tires that we ran in TaG this season).
The guys in the Formula Y/C class ran Burris tires in 2007 and had nothing but positive feedback. They enjoyed better wear and better consistency vs. the YHC tires.
