Hey everyone!
I am looking to purchase either a Parilla Leopard or Rotax Max kart to compete in the TAG 125cc classes that are available. I have spoken to Peter at Go-Karting.com in Escondido and what a wealth of information! He definately cleared up a bunch of loose ends. Nonetheless, I have been researching for the past hour or two and found a few local and prominent racing series that I can possibly compete in. But I am a little puzzled as to which spec engine can run in which series. Are both of these TAG engines allowed in the Gatorz, Pro Karts, Tri-C, and SDKA series? And what about other racing series within so-cal? And I know I might be getting ahead of myself but what about series for IKF and things like StarsOfKarting? Thanks a bunch and I look forward to meeting you all next year on and off the track!

Andrew, Welcome to karting I've been racing in both TaG and Rotax classes and currently own a few Leopard and Rotax motors. Feel free to give me a call at 619-916-8076 or email kart66(at)gmail.com and we can really talk about the details and pros/cons of each package. Basically ... - The Rotax can be raced in nearly any TaG (touch and go) series in the Country. In addition, it can be raced in any RotaxMax series (ie Gatorz). - The Leopard can also be raced in any TaG series; however, it can not be raced in RotaxMax. So, the Rotax allows for more racing options. But, the Rotax is rev-limited and can be at a disadvatage to the Leopard (and other TaG engines) on certain tracks. - SDKA offers two TaG classes and will most likely add a Rotax class again for 2008 (we'll be voting at the Board meeting next week). - Tri-C offers two TaG classes but 90% of the drivers are in the TaG Masters class (age 30+) - ProKart has multiple TaG classes. - Gatorz is a RotaxMax series that also offers a TaG class. However, the TaG class averaged only 3 drivers this year. Anyway, give me a call or shoot me an email. There's a lot more we can talk about to make sure you get the right package for what you want to do. Jeff Shadoan
