Okay so i am a motocross rider. I have a 2002 cr125 and i just got an extra motor for it that i am almost done fixing up and souping up for my bike. That is going to leave me with an extra stock cr125 motor. Ive always been really interested in karting so this is my big chance. I want to build a kart using that motor. I am a very mechanical person and i know how to work with brakes and all the things that im gonna find on a kart. I want to find a used rolling chassis or mabe less than rolling and put my motor onto it. And for now i wouldn't be racing it at least for a while. So that being said i have some important questions.
1. Are there different kinds of chassis for different types of racing or are they mostly the same.
2. Are there any brands that are WAY better than others or ones that i should steer away from.
3. How much work would be involved in getting that motor onto a rolling chassis to make a complete kart.
4. Would there be welding involved for like the motor mounts or something.
5. And do parts fit on it that you buy or do you always have to adapt them. Like if i buy a seat or brake calipers or something am i going to have to modify the frame to make them work.

The Topkart link you listed is for a Cadet Kart, kids ages 8-11.
I have a Birel chassis available that should work well for your needs. It is a complete roller, you will just need to add the seat and motor. Mounting a seat is fairly straight forward. Factory engine mounts are available as well.
Send me an e-mail with your contact info.

Most chassis can run up front, it just depends on setup/driver/engine/local support. (topkart, tony, birel, margay, ital, trackmagic, beisse, intrepid, crg, etc.....) about the shifter engine, go to prokartchallenge.com for questions. their the experts

I'd suggest that you either attend a race and talk to the shifter drivers or make a trip to one of the kart shops and take a look at what you would have to do to assemble a kart. It's not quite as simple as getting a motor mount and stapping the engine to the frame, adding gas and go. If you are going to purchase a bare frame you have to decide on what size axle you are going to run and then you'll have to get all the accopanying sprocket carriers for that axle. Then there's the brakes, radiator, battery and holder, etc. I would think that if you are dead set on running your motor, get everything else in a package deal so all you have to do is mount it, add gas and go.

Well i actually would like to have it as kind of a project to work on so im not worried about trying to find everything in a package. So basically i am looking for the best frame possible i don't know if certain companies have better frame geometry than others. And is there any way i could have the motor remain a kick start and have the kick start stop at the tire or something.

I found a Birel MX32 chassis for very cheap. I looked at the birel website and it is under the category of their 100 line. What is the difference between those karts and the 125 line. Would it matter if i put a 125 shifter motor into it.
