Is there anyone living in the South Bay Chula Vista/Imperial Beach area that races in the TaG Class and would consider assisting me in getting my newly acquired kart setup and ready to race prior to the season starting?? I used to race in the KT100 class and those karts were much simpler and relatively easy to setup, BUT these "new to me" TaG karts are more complicated and I am trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. However, with no practice session to attend and "pick the brains" of the more knowledgeable TaG racers, I'd appreciate any and all help I can get. Heck, even direct "email"/phone con questions and answers would be better than nothing. I really do not want to show up at the first race and start bothering people with a lot of stupid questions (I would NEVER do that!!). On race day, most are preoccupied with maintaining their own karts and don't want to be bothered with other things. MANY THANKS!!

James,
The members in the club are extremely friendly and helpful so I wouldn’t be to worried about asking question while at the track. Since you’re on Ekartingnews.com you should check the TaG, Rotax & handling section archives for setup info. As long as your doing your research in the archives the members will be helpful in answering any specific questions you might have. If your motor is new then you do need to do a break in before you get it to the track, so keep that in mind.

Thanks Eric. I have been reading as many of the posts on ekarting news as I can and have learned a lot, BUT there is still much I don't know yet. I picked up my new foldable trailer yesterday in Vista and I hope to get it assembled tomorrow and registered one day next week. I need to remount the seat on my kart and pick up some other things I'm gonna need. I may try to go to Moran and take the kart driving school just to get a feel for that track since I've never driven on it and it HAS been awhile since I last raced with the SDKA. IF I make the first race at Moran, I may just practice and not try to race. I'm more in it for the FUN and competition, not necessarily championships and all that sort of thing. Good finishes will be my first priority. Still lots to do before the season begins!!

If I make the first race at Moran, I may just practice and not try to race. If you request to be a "X" head you can start at the back of the pack during the racing. That way you can get use to your new kart and to driving again. I think you’ll be surprised of the many different skill levels in the TaG class. There are drivers that are super fast, fast, getting fast & just out to have fun, so you should have some good competition at any level.
