Seems there was a lot of confusion concerning the start of the second heat. I would like some clarification of the rules.
How long do we have on the grid to start the motor and exit onto the track? I heard 90 seconds from a few people. If this is the case, the kart that was off poll and allowed to start should not have been allowed to participate in the race.
Do each of us other competitors now get extra time to start if we have a problem?
Because of the wait for this kart and the ongoing confusion, the flag man at the start finish line WAVED both the red and yellow flags. This caused more confusion which then caused clutches to smoke. In fact it caused one of the faster karters to use a back up kart and restart at the back. Glad he had a backup. Again, if the 90 second rule applies, this would not have happened.
Then there was an explanation of the red and yellow flags. During the explanation, the comment was made the flags were furled. The person doing the explaining would be the only person at the track with this opinion as the flags we unfurled and waving. Seems some flag training for most everyone is in order.
This is club racing in a parking lot and we all want to have a good time. It was a little discourging to see the tempers flair and bunch of yelling going on. Especially around the juniors. However, this is racing and for some reason we all hope our kids will be the next Sebastian Vettel.
At the next drivers meeting I hope there will be a straight, unemotional and truthful explanation of the rules that we all have to follow - with no exceptions.
