Hola everyone! I moved out to North Sandiego about a year ago and have been eyeballing Apex and Adams Motorsports for Karting for quite a while now. I've been to K1- which is fairly fun, but I have a serious need for fast machines.... Always have- since I was a kid. I'm retiring from the military in October and one of the hobbies I'd like to get into is serious Karting! So as you've probably guessed... I'm 40 and still a kid inside- at least that's what my wife says. So looking to get some real advice on what type of kart to start off on, grow into and then compete with seriously or .... at least semi-seriously?! Anyway, if any body could give me some direction as to what type of kart and hopefully a good size group in the class for that Kart to race with- I'd really appreciate it. Also, I'm looking to by used if possible and I'm not really interested in shifter Karts right now. I'd rather just be able to drive without having to shift. Actually looked at the new "Mega Kart R01" by Rubig, but don't know if that is even a big enough class out here? Plus they are expensive. Man they look fast though... And no shifting from what I could tell. Anyway, give me a holler if you can- especially if you happen to be down my way in San Diego North County! Thanks all! ---- Cheers!

I started in a 100cc and moved to TaG (125cc, watercooled, single speed, electric start) after 1 season. I know that progression helped me learn how to drive karts and would be the best way to get into karting. I think you could skip the 100cc class and move right to TaG (more karts in the class). You won't need that Mega Kart motor. You will be shocked how fast TaG karts are. Come out to our next race I will be happy to talk about karting with you.
