Hey all! I'm new here. Santa gave my 4 year old son a TopKart kid kart for Christmas-and we are looking for a place to cruise.
We plan on racing with SDKA when he turns 5 (2/2013).
I am hoping someone can refer me to a decent (kart friendly) parking lot or safe area to drive. I approached Del Mar track/fairgrounds about their parking lot and they laughed at me. We've been through numerous gas/brake drills in our cul te sac and hes ready for some turns.
Any ideas?

The best place to practice in San Diego is at Apex Kart track in Perris,Ca.You can goggle it. Track is perfect to gain knowledge for someone young. Hope this helps....Have fun

Thanks for the reply- I do have plans to make it up to Apex and have my son get a class from Jerry. I understand he is the best with kids.
Before taking him on a track (and making the drive north), I wanted to give him an opportunity to get comfortable with the kart in an open space - hence the parking lot idea.
All the lots I've scoped out have parking stops or curbs galore.
I figured I'd ask here before trying my luck.

just got a cart for my grandson, soon to be 4, and wondered if you were able to find a location for your son to practice... I am looking for somewhere too. Thanks, Tony
