Has anyone heard that the old concrete circle track at what used to be Marshal Scotty's in El Cajon has reopened? It is on the south side of I-8 off Lake Jennings Pkwy. They are up and running as of the end of November 2011
Looks to be a 100' straightaway with banked corners on a 40' wide track. They are running mini sprint karts on it on weekend afternoons and evenings.
I wonder if SDKA could do anything with the space.
Cheers, David

David - last I heard, right after their grand opening the local bureaucrats shut them down. Something about environmental impact studies. They said it would take them three years to go through the process. And this is after the couple who renovated the property sunk their entire life savings into it.

Hal, The Community put up a stink over the EIR requirment and got the process throught quick and anf they are open for business. The problem with David's idea is that the track is the size of a postage stamp. You could have a longer straight in almost any parking lot in town. Led

Christian,

My confidence in the power of the people is restored. Thanks for the follow up. Was thinking that if they had room out there, it might be possible to build a bigger, better track.
